We believe there is a conflicting driver in a Windows compatibility pack that's causing issues with Vulkan base games on the ROG Ally and other handheld or laptop devices.
If you are having issues launching the game please try the following:
1) Navigate to Settings / Apps / Installed apps
2) Uninstall the “OpenCL, OpenGL and Vulkan Compatibility Pack"
If you continue having issues please ensure that your graphics card drivers for your card and also on-board chips (even if you do not use the on-board graphics chip) are completely up to date. Windows will often incorrectly report these as up to date so it's best to check the following links:
