If you're playing on PC, and the game crashes when you start, please try the following steps:
1) If using Steam, ensure you have the latest version installed.
- Open the Steam client
- Click the 'Steam' option at the top left of the screen
- Select the 'Check for Steam Client Updates' option
Your Steam Client will then update to the latest version if necessary. If your client was out of date, please try re-loading the game.
2) Ensure that your Graphics Card drivers for your cards and also on-board chips are completely up to date (even if you do not use the on-board graphics chip, updating this will ensure the game selects the correct GPU). Windows may incorrectly report these as up to date so it's best to check the following links:
- For Nvidia Cards please visit https://www.nvidia.co.uk/Download/Scan.aspx?lang=en-uk.
- For AMD Cards & on-board chips please visit https://www.amd.com/en/support.
- For Intel GPUS please visit https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/detect.html.
3) Try disabling in-game overlays in various 3rd party apps, good examples of this are:
- Steam Overlay disable instructions can be found here - https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=9394-yofv-0014
- Discord Overlay
- Nvidia Experience Overlay
4) Try disabling / uninstalling video recording software such as:
- BandiCam
5) Ensure you have the latest Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Distributable from https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170
Please also ensure any mods installed have been removed before attempting to load the game, as this may also have an impact on stability.
